Coco Paving was founded by Nina and William Coco in 1964, in Windsor, Ontario.  From its origins in 1964 until 1981, the  Company’s primary focus was on concrete works (roads, sidewalks, curbs, and driveways). In 1981, Coco Paving sold its concrete ready mix operation to Lafarge and three years later, in 1984,  it then  acquired  its  first asphalt plant.  With the addition of  Nina and Bill’s children,  Rocky and Jenny Coco, to the family business, Coco Paving continued to strive for growth and development opportunities, focusing on vertical integration. With Rocky as President and Jenny as CEO, the Company continues  to expand  its operations to include  underground site servicing, sanitary, storm and  water mains, electrical site servicing. By 1998, Coco Paving had grown exponentially and was the only fully-integrated heavy civil construction company in Ontario, with the operation of a concrete pipe plant.

Having grown the Company over the past 10 years,  2004 proved to be an accomplished year for the Company, having landed its first major MTO Project, valued over $50M. Coco Paving secured a 2 year contract to construct 10km of 6-lane concrete highway pavement  together  with  a  concrete barrier median.  Coco Paving’s certification of internal lab for materials testing (CCIL) provided improved quality control on this project. In 2008, Coco Paving also secured one of the largest MTO projects in the Province of Ontario. The project was a $94.7M, a 3 year contract, and requiring Coco Paving to construct 12km of 6-lane highway pavement.

On June 15th, 2009, Coco Paving made its largest  acquisition.  The  Company purchased  Lafarge’s 31 Asphalt plants  and its heavy construction division in Ontario and Quebec.   With this acquisition, the Company had become the largest road paving heavy construction company in the Province of Ontario. Coco Paving’s  continued growth enabled it to participate in new and exciting opportunities and  on March 10th, 2011, Coco Paving was shortlisted to submit proposals for the extension of Highway 407. Not resting on their laurels, the next day, Coco acquired the assets of Dunn Paving in Windsor, ON.  This acquisition provided Coco Paving with the opportunity to enter into the Cold-in-Place market. On May 28th, 2011,  Coco Paving continued to  increase its presence in the eastern region  of Ontario through the asset acquisition of Rob Robinson Limited in Durham Region, ON – a heavy construction contractor specializing in sewers and water mains, road construction and hydro works.

In 2012, Coco Paving saw an area of expansion not yet explored by the Company and in August, 2012, the Company secured its first Alberta asphalt paving contract and mobilized one of its portable asphalt plants to the Shell Athabasca Oil Sands Project  in Fort McMurray, Alberta. The project is ongoing and continues to provide geographic expansion for the Company.

Since its  inception in 1964, Coco Paving is proud to  continue as a family owned and operated entity, successfully  executing it’s vision, through  on time and on budget  execution  and completion  of  its projects to the satisfaction of our  customers.
